The Santa Paula Police Officers' Association would like to congratulate Allen Macias on his recent promotion to Sergeant. Sergeant Macias will remain in the Detective Bureau and serve as the supervisor of our Detective unit. Congrats on the promotion Sarge!

Today, Police Recruits Sergio Gutierrez, Donovan Varela, Sean Zosimo, and Richard Prebble, were inspected by Chief Steve McLean, and their future Field Training Officers. The recruits were quizzed on various penal and vehicle codes, as well as case law and their law enforcement code of ethics. Today marks the last day of their Pre-Academy training. The Santa Paula Police Department welcomes newly hired Police Recruits Sergio Gutierrez, Donovan Varela, Sean Zosimo, and Richard Prebble. The recruits have been attending a 4 week pre-academy program to assist them in preparing for the Police Academy. Officer Jason Abboud recently took some time out of his daily activities while on patrol to engage and talk with some of the youth in our community. Officer Abboud purchased a cup of lemonade to help support their fundraiser for the Santa Paula SPARC program. Well done Officer Abboud. 

2018 SP Santa and Me Toy Drive

  The SPPOA is excited to announce that the 2018 Santa and Me Toy Drive was a successful event. 321 families were in attendance and we handed out over 1,000 toys to less fortunate families. We want to thank all Santa Paula city employees and Santa Paula Police Officers who assisted in the event, and a special thank you to the USMC Toys for Tots program and to Chief Andrew Salinas and the Port Hueneme Police Department for their generous donations to our toy drive.

Through the month of October, the Santa Paula Police Department will switch to pink patches on their uniforms during “Breast Cancer Awareness Month”. Breast Cancer is an unfortunate disease that hits close to home for many, including Assistant Police Chief Ismael Cordero, who was the first to spearhead the Pink Patch Project in Ventura County, starting with Santa Paula in 2015. “My wife is one of the lucky survivors of this terrible disease going on 6 years,” said Assistant Chief Ismael Cordero....

The tragic events that took place on September 11, 2001 changed America forever. On this day, we honor the 343 lives that were lost as they attempted to save the lives of others. We will never forget the bravery and sacrifice of these heroes.

Our very own K-9 Handler, Officer van Hemert, responded to a call where she discovered a couple was stranded on their way home to Los Angeles. They couldn’t afford to put gas in their vehicle so Officer van Hemert volunteered to fill their gas tank with her own money. The couple was very appreciative of this kind gesture. Indianapolis police officers escorted fallen Southport Lt. Aaron Allan's 6-year-old son to his first day of school August 8th, 2018.  "We wanted to make sure this year we were here for little Aaron to make sure he got to school safe, just like his dad did about a year ago," said Southport Police Chief Tom Vaughn.
